$29 BLUETOOTH SPEAKER
EXT211A
BRIEF:
A designer's role is not only to make things beautiful, but to make it functional. Being able to design mass manufacturable products is a major skill industrial designers should hold. This project required the intricate deconstruction of an economical speaker. Fully analysing how it would be made, and then remaking it, 1:1 in CAD.
TOOLS:
- Analytical deconstruction & benchmarking
- SolidWorks
- DFM CAD processes
- 1:1 product replication
- Quality tech drawings
- Keyshot
- Animations
- Matched realistic textures
- Considered file organisation
- Project documentation and reports
The above render was purposefully created to emulate the poor compositing see on may of the product photos found during research.
OUTCOME:
This project was a fantastic exploration and benchmarking of a mass manufactured product, learning what it takes to economically produce a product. The process taught me many smart and efficient approaches to designing a product from scratch, using new tools to make intricate features.
LEARNED SKILLS:
- Individual design organisation and time management
- DFM requirements and processes for mass manufactured goods
- Keyshot file management
- Keyshot material customisation
- SolidWorks tools and features for product design
